Back to School, Back to The Hills

It has been great summer at The Hills but the school year is now upon us! The start of the school year brings with it new activities and commitments while also putting an end to many summertime endeavors. Summer vacations are winding down and many of you are finding yourselves back at work or school after what has hopefully been a relaxing and enjoyable break. The shift from summertime to the school year is an eventful transition and can often yield new time consuming ventures; but can also be an interlude of newly discovered pockets of free time and longer periods at home. Whether you are a student or a parent, or just done with your summer travels, this time of year brings a great opportunity to start fresh with a new commitment to exercise and wellness. Regardless of the changes that may be occurring in your schedule, the start of the school year is a great time to establish or restore exercise habits.

As your schedule changes, we encourage you to try new activities at The Hills that may not have fit into the laissez-faire routine of summer. If your schedule has become more rigid and full, consider planning work-outs at least a week ahead so you can be sure they will be an integral part of your busy week. If back to school gives you a more open schedule and additional free time, take advantage of this break to step up your exercise frequency and to try classes or programs you may not have been available to attend before.

We at The Hills hope the start of the school year is a time of new opportunities and exciting growth for you. Take this time to evaluate your schedule and make sure to designate time to pursue health and wellness. Whatever the school year brings, pursue a healthy mind, body, and soul and you will greatly enhance your success, enjoyment, and well-being in all aspects of your life!

The Hills Cafe

KristinaHello!  My name is Kristina Keilson, RD, LD, and I am the new Café Director here at The Hills Fitness.  I am very excited to be here and help the café better serve your needs.  I recently moved to Austin after graduating from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with a B.S. in Nutrition.  To complement my work as a Registered Dietitian, I am beginning culinary school in the fall.  The new café staff and I are working on combining nutrition and flavor to provide delicious items in the café that support your health and wellness goals.  I want to thank those of you who completed the survey in August.  In answer to the high amount of requests, the café will soon be serving better ingredients, local produce, vegetarian options, and new exciting smoothies!  Be sure to visit us to experience the new tastes created for you and your lifestyle.

Haelen Hyperbarics

Haelen Hyperbarics is a growing network of physician operated Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) clinics. Haelen Hyperbarics also provides physicians with turn-key HBOT solutions to incorporate the therapy into their existing medical practices. Our mission is to help our patients reach their optimal health as quickly and safely as possible, and to proliferate the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the United States.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is the use of greater than atmospheric pressure oxygen as a drug to treat basic disease processes/states, and their diseases. This therapy increases the oxygen concentration in the body up to 20 times normal at the cellular level, which promotes healing.

In the United States, HBOT is commonly used to treat 13 clinically accepted indications including diabetic wounds, decompression sickness, and carbon monoxide poisoning. Internationally, there are over 150 indications for HBOT including uses in neurology, pre and post surgery, sports medicine, anti-aging and pain management.

Robert RodriguezHi I'm Robert Rodriguez.  I recently moved here from California to manage the Hyperbarics of Austin clinic here at the Hills . I have been doing Hyperbarics for over 7 years and have been in the medical field for over 9 years .  Hyperbarics is great in many ways . It increases energy, speeds recovery from workouts and also increases recovery from injury. It’s a great all natural way to stay healthy. Feel free to stop me if you see me at The Hills or just come by our suite 106 next door  if you have any questions or would like an appointment.
